AI-generated applications, larger candidate pools, automated screening, and increasingly competitive hiring have made the process more difficult for candidates to understand and navigate. Inside The Hire™ helps students see what is happening on the other side of the process and focus on the things that still influence hiring decisions.
Inside The Hire™ builds on the career readiness work already being done by colleges, universities, and transition programs, adding the real-world perspective of someone who has spent decades hiring, evaluating, and developing talent.
Students go beyond what to do and learn what employers are looking for, how candidates are evaluated, and what ultimately influences hiring decisions.
Through insights developed from real-world hiring experience, students learn to:
•Define what they are looking for and target opportunities strategically
•Position themselves effectively before they ever apply
•Understand how employers evaluate and compare candidates
•Communicate their experience, potential, and value with clarity
•Build professional relationships that create opportunities
•Navigate an increasingly competitive and AI-influenced hiring environment
•Differentiate themselves without relying on gimmicks or formulas
•Evaluate opportunities, employers, and offers more thoughtfully
•Transition from student to professional with greater confidence and direction

Inside The Hire™ gives students and transitioning service members a perspective they rarely get to see: the hiring manager's. Through workshops, individual sessions, and employer panels, participants learn how employers evaluate candidates, make hiring decisions, and determine who moves forward.

I've spent 35 years leading teams, delivering complex projects, and most importantly, hiring.
I have reviewed countless resumes, interviewed thousands of candidates, hired hundreds, and made hiring decisions that directly impacted teams, performance, and business outcomes.
I know what works, what doesn’t, and how small differences often determine who gets the offer.
I’m also retired from the U.S. Air Force, where I developed a strong foundation in leadership, accountability, and performance under pressure. That experience continues to shape how I lead and mentor others, while giving me firsthand appreciation for the challenges of translating experience, skills, and accomplishments into new career opportunities.
Today, I focus on helping students and military transitioners understand the hiring process from the inside out. My approach is practical, direct, and grounded in real-world experience.
Inside The Hire™ also offers workforce readiness programming for high school students preparing to enter the workforce, with practical insight into hiring, workplace expectations, interviewing, professionalism, and what employers look for in early-career candidates.
